Background: One way to trace the trajectory of World War II in German propaganda is to look at the front pages of the Völkischer Beobachter, the Nazi Party’s daily newspaper. My long-term goal was to provide an image of the first page of each issue with a translation of the headline, and occasional commentary. That’s close to 2,000 issues. I’ll add pages occasionally over time.

For a much more ambitious project, visit MaritineQuest.com, which includes the front pages of numerous newspapers from the war years, mostly in English. That project is at least temporarily paused, having reached June 1942 last I looked.

The source: The full newspapers are available on ANNO, an Austrian site providing millions of pages of Austrian newspapers.
