Background: This is part a larger project: Tracing the history of World War II from the German perspective using the front pages of the Völkischer Beobachter, the Nazi Party’s daily newspaper. The full newspapers are available on ANNO, the Austrian project to digitize the country’s newspapers. The Vienna edition ceased publication with 5 April 1945 issue. The last Berlin edition was dated 30 April 1945, although it apparently was not distributed.
