Background: This page is part of a larger project to trace the history of World War II as reflected in the headlines of the Völkischer Beobachter, the Nazi Party’s daily newspaper.

July 1941 was a good month for Germany. The invasion of the Soviet Union was going well. Roosevelt, not yet in the war, had some problems. The U-Boats were hard at work. From the German perspective, the war was rapidly heading for a victorious end.
